DESCRIPTION
In the horizontal reactor, the pre-reactor has the function of mixing two liquids: purified water and concentrated acid solution. Feedback control valves regulate the flow of water, acid or both, this can be used to adjust the concentration and mass flow of the acid being used in the product reaction within the horizontal reactor. The cyclonic action of the pre-reactor ensures that the concentrated acid is well mixed with the water and is at the correct concentration before it is dispersed inside the reactor. The rotation of the acidic solution in the cyclonic chamber causes the solution to scatter in all directions as it leaves the pre-reactor and enters the reactor, this eliminates acid concentration variation in different regions of the slurry in the horizontal reactor reaction chamber Spinden. Most importantly, by mixing the acid within the reactor, the control of acid mass flow and concentration can be programmed to respond immediately to variations in the mass flow of the material's slurry. The result is greater efficiency in the chemical reaction of the horizontal reactor and greater quality control of the product being granulated.
In the vertical Spinden reactor, the pre-reactor has the even more important job of starting the chemical reaction. Calcium or phosphate slurry is connected directly to the vertical flange of the prereactor. The concentrated acid is injected tangentially into the top of the cyclonic reaction chamber. The reaction of the acid with the slurry produces heat and carbon dioxide, which quickly build up the pressure inside the reactor. This facilitates the chemical reaction and helps initiate the reaction for material entering the pre-reactor.
