DESCRIPTION
Gate/knife type valves are primarily used in unloading hoppers, truck supply chutes, and feed chutes that need to be completely closed for process or maintenance reasons. Knife type valves are not used in general flow control as this is best controlled by J&H diversors or dividers. J&H produces electromechanically or pneumatically actuated gate valves to ensure that the knife, even under the weight of the product, moves. To aid movement, the corrosion-resistant stainless steel knives on all J&H gate valves are guided by sliding bearings. Rubber squeegees and grease fittings keep material where it should be and prevent dust production and product escaping through the valve.
Pneumatically controlled proton valves are normally used in two positions: fully open or fully closed, although a pneumatic system with three positions, with an intermediate one, can be specified. The electromechanically activated ones, on the other hand, can be controlled to open in any position so that there is some material flow. Feedback from actuators can be used to confirm blade movement and position even when used for full opening or closing. Thrust switches prevent the actuator from sticking.
The valve housing design can be standardized to match any connecting flange or other J&H product, or be customized to fit any existing hole pattern or specific rails.
